This year, the core PLUG members and officers have been working extremely hard (two meetings per week) this semester to really work on growing PLUG. We’ve come up with a lot of new marketing ideas as well as defining what the “Linux” means in the PLUG name (GNU/Linux) implicitly. Our efferts has been affirmed by having the largest turnout for a meeting since I’ve been in PLUG. Around 16 people showed up and many of them joined PLUG then and there. And all this before the callout which is scheduled to happen a week from today (Tuesday September 6th). I must admit I was a little worried about being elected president in my freshman year but with this great group of people (a group of tight knit friends), we’ve made everything come together nicely so far. One of our main goals now is to replentish the bank account that was given to us in the unfriendly state of $50. The records indicated they started with over $300 last year and I think they had the impression that it would be our responsibility to rebuild the club after they had their fun. Apparently this has happend to PLUG as well as other SIGs before and its just the way it goes. Hopefully our work becomes something a little more substantial that someone elses burning money down the line.
