I think, after two years, my first album, “Waiting for My Train to Come“, is complete. I’ve removed the song “Come Out and Play” because it was intended to be more of a joke than a released song. I’ve also added about five songs that I’ve made over the past few months.
I really feel like the last few songs are the best I’ve ever done and can probably be explained by the fact that the entire album is chronological. The first song, “Ambivalent“, is about my ex-girlfriend Amanda. The fourth and fifth songs are about another girl named Amanda that I had a crush on from a distance. I wrote a few more songs about her that I will probably never release. Starting with “My Back Right Pocket“, most of the following songs are about my girlfriend, Katherine.
Not all of my songs are about girls. Songs about childhood and my future are interlaced.
Through the making of this album I’ve perfected many new techniques on the guitar such as Travis-style fingerpicking and the Clawhammer style. Both of these styles I’ve already played but once I found the correct way to play them it became much more easy and fun.
